Principal - Emily Jones

As the new principal of Mount Ousley, I am excited to be leading a positive culture of challenge and support for our teachers and students as life-long learners so they are able to continue their learning journey. I have a wide range of leadership experiences that have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to maintain our focus on improving student progress and achievement. I focus on embracing and building upon the unique environment and culture of our school. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my dog Pippa and exploring the wonderful beaches that Wollongong has to offer.

Assistant Principal - Rebecca Kerron

I have been appointed to the role of Assistant Principal this year. I am a passionate, lifelong learner who has been teaching, both here and in London, for 29 years. Over the last 6 years I have led a team of instructional leaders and facilitated professional learning across the State in both literacy and numeracy. I love empowering teachers and students with the knowledge, skills and mindsets for continuous improvement. Outside of school, I am a mum of three beautiful children, a wife, a sister and daughter. I love books, movies, bushwalking, swimming and horse riding.

Teacher - Chelsea Van Dragt

I have been lucky enough to be a part of the team here since 2018. I thoroughly enjoy teaching 5/6. I am thrilled to be teaching and on a learning journey with all the amazing kids in 5/6 Focus this year! Wellbeing is at the forefront of everything that I do. As a teacher, my goal is to create a positive, safe and well-supported learning environment so that all students can learn and reach their full potential. When not at school, I am kept very busy with my two boys. I love spending time with the family, reading, camping and all things birds.

Teacher - James Dixon

As a teacher, I'm dedicated to promoting the best learning from my students. Students have a voice in my classroom and are encouraged to research, explore and present their ideas in creative and unique ways. I've been a member of the Mount Ousley  community for almost 8 years and hope to continue to be here for many more. Out of school, my passions are surfing, cricket, eating, reading and writing.

Teacher - Felicity Fitzpatrick

I am the Co-Leader of Learning in 1/2 Thrive with Ms Sinton (Wed - Fri) and I give additional support for students learning English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D). I’m passionate about First Nations education for all students, promoting inclusivity and ensuring all learners can thrive at our school so they can be the happiest and best version of themselves. I feel incredibly lucky to work within such a wonderful school community that values a love of learning.

Teacher - Chloe Roser

This is my third year of teaching and I feel very lucky to be part of a fantastic school community. I am very excited to be teaching K/1 Shine this year. It is so enjoyable to see my students grow and learn so many new skills that they will use for the rest of their lives! I also like celebrating personal best achievements and love seeing my students accomplish their learning goals. Outside of school, I love going to the beach and spending time with my birds and dog.

Learning and Support Teacher - Leanne Blanche

I’m the Learning and Support Teacher. I work collaboratively with the school’s learning support team and classroom teachers to identify and support the learning and educational needs of students with specific learning and support needs. Student Learning Support Officer - Penny Higgins

I am part of the Student Learning Support Team and have been working in this role for 8 years.  My four children all attended MOPS and so did I! This year I am loving being in the K/1 rooms and supporting the students with their learning.  I recently graduated from Deakin University with an Arts degree in Education and Children’s Literature. I have a passion for learning that I hope instills a love of learning for all of the students that I work with. When not at work, I love spending time with my new granddaughter and my pets, my dog Koda and a few guinea pigs.

Student Learning Support Officer - Ben Higgins

What a joy and honour it is to be part of this vibrant, inclusive, innovative learning community! During my eleven years here, I have been a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, Relieving Principal and leader of The Empathy Project. I love the passion, creativity, empathy and flexibility that our students bring into our days of learning. My life outside of school involves hanging out with my own kids, singing and performing, and (at the moment) imagining I’m travelling to distant lands, when I’m actually just going to a local cafe, country town or other Australian city.

Teacher - Savanna Brule

I'm thrilled to be teaching 5/6 Gusto this year. As a teacher, my passion and driving force is creativity. I love encouraging students to be innovative, to think differently, and to come up with exciting ideas that are so uniquely their own. Student voice and student choice lie at the heart of everything that I do - after all, this is their learning journey! I'm so proud to be part of a community that values empathy and individuality the way that we do at Mount Ousley.

Teacher - Alana Hashworth

I am very proud and excited to be teaching 4/5 Loyal this year. As a teacher, I like to create a classroom of inclusivity, individuality and inquiry. Each child is in control of their learning as they are supported in exploring, experimenting and collaborating with others to form rich understandings. My absolute favourite moments are seeing the excitement and triumph on a student’s face when they have discovered a new learning strategy or conquered a gruelling challenge! When I am not at school you will either find me outside in nature or snuggling up to my two gorgeous dogs.

Teacher - Sally Anderson

I'm excited to be learning with 2/3 Connect this year. Creating a safe, engaging and challenging learning environment is important to me. In our classroom, I support students to take risks and learn from their mistakes. I value the partnership links between home, school and our wider community. Before coming to teaching, I worked as an environmental scientist so I'm passionate about building a learning community with an understanding of environmental  sustainability. When I’m not at school, I love travelling, bushwalking, gardening and cooking.

Teacher - Charlotte Royall

I am passionate about supporting the learning and wellbeing of all students and I am excited to be teaching K/1 Explore this year. I love making learning engaging and creating an environment where all students can reach their full potential. Over the last 7 years I have been lucky enough to teach here, in London, and all around the Illawarra. I have been back at MOPS full time for the last three years and I feel very lucky to be teaching and learning at such an innovative and supportive school! I also love to travel, explore, hike, swim, read and create.

Teacher Librarian - Susie Hamers

I am the longest serving member of our staff, having begun my career here back in 1992. I am proud to now be teaching the 2nd generation of Mount Ousley students, even if it makes me feel a little old! My passion, not surprisingly, is books. As a published author myself, I love introducing new stories to students and igniting their imagination and creativity. I also love music, theatre and photography.

Teacher - Wendy Myers

I have had many different teaching roles over the past 11 years. I love that I have taught every student at some point! This year I am working in Learning Support and RFF. My classroom is a nurturing environment where the students are encouraged to take risks with their learning, follow their passions and achieve their individual goals. I’m also the Sports Organiser and an Executive member of the Central Wollongong PSSA. I really enjoy providing opportunities for children to be active, work as a team and support each other through sport.

Student Learning Support Officer - Leanne Fowler

I’m part of the Student Learning Support team. I've been lucky enough to be part of this amazing team for 7 years now. I feel very privileged to work with some amazing students, and my favourite moments are when students achieve goals they work hard to achieve. There’s nothing better than seeing their excitement when they realise they can achieve their goals. When I’m not at school you will find me with family, keeping busy with my four children.  I love to spend time at the beach, baking and I  have a passion for learning.

Outside of school my passions are AFL, AFL coaching, beach and fitness.

School Administration Manager - Vanessa Honey

You will find me in the front office working on everything finance related. I enjoy  working at Mount Ousley and feel lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community.  Outside of school I love to travel around Australia in my caravan with my husband. Exploring and finding new places is one of my passions.

I am the cleaner here at Mount Ousley and I love it. I pride myself on ensuring the school is clean and fresh for the students and staff each day. Covid certainly threw up some challenges, but we beat them! You may not know this, but I am Italian. I am very proud of my country and my heritage.
