Thank you for exploring what Mount Ousley Public School has to offer.
Our school places students at the centre of all the decisions we make. We celebrate the rich and varied heritages of our students and their families from all around the world. With 23% of students coming from a language background other than English, we are enriched by the languages and cultures that our students bring to school.
High Expectations Culture
Students are empowered to voice their needs, be active contributors to their learning, and work collaboratively as part of a team. They are taught how to think critically and creatively to solve problems and challenge ideas. Students apply these skills to their learning and while exploring real-world problems.
The school values of Learning, Wellbeing, and Community drive the positive and welcoming culture that our staff, students, and families enjoy. Our students demonstrate empathy and genuine care towards others and actively work to make our school and the wider community a better place. The learning dispositions of Cognition, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal underpin these values.
Our staff is a dedicated team of professionals who pride themselves on the relationships they develop with their students and their families. They are highly skilled practitioners who continually upskill to ensure we are at the forefront of research-informed practices that enhance the learning and wellbeing of all students. Our teachers expertly adjust learning to cater to a wide range of learners in their classrooms. They work collaboratively in their teams and with colleagues across the network to learn new strategies and then apply these in their classrooms. As a result our students demonstrate strong academic achievement in literacy and numeracy.
The administration and support staff are highly skilled in supporting students and their families. I encourage you to call our friendly office team to experience this for yourself and to set up a tour of our school.
The opportunities afforded to students include High Potential and Gifted education, sports, music, creative arts, leadership, and highly engaging teaching and learning every day.
We have reimagined the traditional 'sporting houses' to better represent what we value. These groups are now known as Wellbeing Crews, fostering a strong sense of belonging for students. Student leaders organise a fundraising event each term to benefit a national or local charity, which builds a sense of community and connectedness among students across the school.
As part of the Keira Community of Schools, we work closely with Keira High School to ensure successful student transitions to high school.
